2. The short version

Voctara is built so your data stays with you. The app processes your voice messages — transcription and task extraction — entirely on your device. Your audio, transcripts and tasks are never transmitted to us. This website uses no analytics, no tracking services and no advertising cookies.

3. The Voctara app

• Transcription and task extraction run locally with Apple's models on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Nothing is sent to our servers.
• If you use several devices, the app syncs your content through your own private iCloud (Apple CloudKit). That data lives in your iCloud account and is governed by Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to it.
• The app requires no account and contains no tracking.

4. Website hosting (Hetzner and Cloudflare)

This website runs on a server operated by Hetzner Online GmbH (Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany) in its Nuremberg, Germany data center — so processing takes place entirely in Germany. Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) sits in front of the server as a CDN, DNS and security service (TLS, protection against attacks). When you visit, technically necessary connection data is processed (e.g. IP address, date and time of access, page requested, browser type) to deliver and secure the site. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure, performant operation). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

5. Cookies

We only use technically necessary cookies: a session cookie when you sign in to manage your license (legal basis: Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR). There are no tracking or marketing cookies — which is why there is no cookie banner.

6. Purchasing Voctara Pro

Mac (direct download): Purchases are handled by our payment provider Lemon Squeezy, LLC (USA) as merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy processes your payment and billing data under its own responsibility; see the Lemon Squeezy privacy policy. From Lemon Squeezy we receive your email address plus order and license data (no access to full payment details) in order to issue and manage your license (Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR).

iPhone & iPad (App Store): Purchases run entirely through Apple. We receive no personal data from you.

7. License management and sign-in link

To manage your Mac license you can sign in with your email address; we send you a one-time sign-in link ("magic link"). We process your email address, license keys and device activations (Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR). This data is stored in a database on our own server hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH in Nuremberg, Germany.

8. Email delivery and receipt (Forward Email)

We send transactional emails (e.g. license keys and sign-in links) via Forward Email (Forward Email LLC, USA; forwardemail.net); the same service receives email sent to our contact address. Your email address and the message content are processed solely to deliver the message in question (Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR). Transfers to the USA are based on Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 (2)(c) GDPR).

9. Retention

We keep license data for as long as your license exists, and beyond that only where statutory retention obligations (e.g. tax law) require it. Server logs (at Cloudflare and on our own server) are automatically deleted after a short period.

10. Your rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:
